Why we breathe through the nose
The nose is not just a way in for air. It slows the breath down, and that changes how the whole evening feels.

In class I keep saying the same thing: nose, if you can. Here's why.
Your nose warms and filters the air, but more importantly it slows you down. Breathing through a narrow opening makes each breath a little longer and a little lower, without any effort on your part.
A small test
Tonight, notice how you breathe while you're on your phone. Mouth or nose? High in the chest or low in the belly? Just notice. No need to fix it yet.
When the nose is blocked
A cold, hay fever, a crooked septum: it happens. Breathe through the mouth with soft lips and keep the out-breath long. The calm comes from the slowness more than from the nose itself.
The Thursday classes always start here. Book one if you'd like to feel the difference in a room.
